If the camera will not open, check Vora’s camera permission. If it cannot read the barcode, flatten the package and improve the light. If the code scans but no food is found, use search or manual food entry.

  • Check the camera first
  • A readable code may have no food match
  • Use the package label to check results

The camera will not open

Open your phone settings, find Vora, and check camera access. On Android, look in the app’s Permissions. On iPhone, look under Privacy & Security, then Camera.

Return to the app and reopen the scanner. If the camera also fails in your phone’s Camera app, resolve that problem first.

The camera opens but does not read the code

Use the product barcode, not a QR code that links to the brand’s website. Flatten any folds in the packaging, move away from glare, and hold the phone still.

Make sure the whole barcode is in view. Move a little farther away if the camera cannot focus. On Android, Vora’s scanner also offers manual barcode entry.

The code scans but the food is missing

Reading the code and finding the food are separate steps. The product may not exist in the database, even when the camera reads the code correctly.

Check your internet connection, then try searching for the food by name. If there is no matching entry, log the food manually using the nutrition label.

The food or calories look wrong

Check the product name, brand, and package label. Then check whether the values are per serving, per 100 grams, or for the whole package.

Correct the amount before saving. If you already saved an incorrect entry, review that entry instead of adding a second copy of the meal.

If the problem continues, contact support with the app version, phone model, and what happened. A photo of the product label can help identify a bad match.

Common questions

Why does the barcode scan but show no result?

The camera can read a valid code even when the food database has no matching product. Search by name or use manual food entry.

Does upgrading fix a missing food?

A paid plan does not guarantee a missing product will be in the database. Basic barcode scanning is already included in Vora Free.

Can I scan a restaurant meal?

A barcode scanner needs a product barcode linked to a food record. For a meal without one, use another food logging method and check the portion.
