Vora is a health and fitness coaching app that connects to Apple Health, tracks workouts, and offers AI-powered chat and voice coaching. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how it's used, how it's shared, and the choices you have regarding your information.

2. Information We Collect

Contact & Account Information

  • Email address (for authentication and communication)
  • First name, last name, display name/username
  • Subscription status and onboarding progress
  • Profile preferences and settings

Profile & Demographics

  • Date of birth and gender
  • Height and weight measurements
  • Unit preferences (metric/imperial)
  • Timezone and location settings
  • Notification preferences and permissions

Health & Fitness Data from Apple Health (HealthKit)

  • Body measurements: Weight, height, BMI, body fat percentage, lean mass, waist circumference
  • Activity data: Steps, walking/running/cycling/swimming distances, flights climbed, active and basal energy, VO₂ max, heart rate averages, Exercise Time, Stand Time
  • Vital signs: Heart rate (including high-frequency samples), resting heart rate, heart rate variability, blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, body temperature, blood glucose
  • Sleep data: Sleep analysis with stages (REM, deep, light, awake), durations, and timestamps
  • Workout data: Workout type, duration, start/end times, distance, calories burned, source app or device
  • Mindfulness: Mindful minutes and session data
  • Other health metrics: Reproductive health data, mobility metrics (walking speed, step length, asymmetry), hearing exposure levels

In-App Fitness Data

  • Workout sessions you plan and complete (titles, notes, dates, duration)
  • Exercise data: sets, reps, weights, RPE, rest times, distances, splits
  • Fitness goals and progress tracking
  • Workout analytics, streaks, and performance summaries
  • Points, achievements, and referral activity

Calendar & Scheduling Data

  • Calendar events synced with your device (when enabled)
  • Event titles, times, and workout mappings
  • Scheduling preferences and availability

Voice & Audio Data

  • Voice recordings during AI coaching sessions (processed in real-time)
  • Audio transcripts from voice interactions
  • Voice preferences and settings

Photos & Media

  • Profile photo you choose to upload
  • Progress photos (if you choose to take them)

Usage & Analytics Data

  • App usage patterns and feature interactions
  • Search queries and chat messages

3. How We Collect Data

Data you provide directly: Profile information, workout logs, goals, chat messages, voice queries, and photos you choose to upload.

Data collected automatically: Health metrics from Apple HealthKit, workout performance data, app usage analytics, and device information.

Data from third-party services: Apple HealthKit, Apple Calendar, push notification services, and AI processing providers.

4. How We Use Your Information

App functionality: To provide personalized workout plans, track progress, sync with your calendar, and send notifications.

AI coaching: To power our chat and voice coaching features with personalized recommendations based on your health data and goals.

Analytics: To calculate streaks, progress metrics, and improve our training algorithms (using aggregated, de-identified data).

Account management: To manage your account, provide customer support, and send essential communications.

Safety & security: To secure your account, prevent abuse, and ensure data integrity.

5. HealthKit Data Usage

HealthKit Data Protection: Your health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data brokerage. We only use it to provide health and fitness coaching within the app.

We read health data to show you dashboards, create personalized workout plans, and provide AI coaching. We may write limited data back to Apple Health (like completed workouts) to keep your records consistent.

You control all HealthKit permissions through Apple's Health app. If you revoke access, data syncing stops immediately. You can request deletion of stored health data as part of account deletion.

6. Data Sharing

Infrastructure providers: We use trusted cloud services for hosting, database management, and file storage.

AI processing: Voice audio and relevant health context are processed by AI providers to deliver coaching features.

Push notifications: Device tokens are shared with notification services to deliver app alerts.

No advertising or data brokerage: We never share your data with ad networks, data brokers, or third parties for their own marketing purposes.

All data sharing is limited to what's necessary to operate the app and provide requested features.

7. Data Selling & Tracking

We do not sell your data. We do not transfer user data to third parties for their own marketing or monetization.

No third-party tracking for advertising. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking technologies.

Our analytics are limited to functional metrics needed to improve the app, not for targeted advertising.

8. Data Storage & Security

Storage: Data is stored securely on cloud servers with encryption at rest and in transit. Some data is cached locally on your device for performance.

Retention: We retain your data while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal obligations.

Security: We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure authentication, and access controls to protect your data.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Access & Correction: You can view and edit your profile information, workout data, and preferences within the app.

Data Export: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

Account Deletion: You can delete your account in the app settings or by contacting support. This will remove or anonymize your associated data.

HealthKit Control: You control all health data permissions through Apple's Health app settings.

Communication Preferences: You can manage notification settings within the app.

10. Account Deletion

To delete your account, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or contact us at privacy@askvora.com.

When you delete your account, it becomes inactive and inaccessible. We will remove or anonymize your associated data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or safety reasons.

11. Children's Privacy

Vora is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

Children should use the app only with appropriate parental consent where required by law.

12. International Users

Vora operates globally and processes data in the United States and other countries where our service providers are located.

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR/UK GDPR, including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, object to processing, and data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the new effective date in the app and on our website. For material changes, we may provide additional notice through the app or email.

Continued use of Vora after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
