Food logging guide

Bring your food routine with you.

You do not need to rebuild years of food history to try a different tracker. Start with your goals and a few meals you already know.

Food tracking, made simple

To try Vora instead of MyFitnessPal, set your current nutrition targets in Vora, scan a few regular foods, and compare the serving sizes. This is a manual setup guide, not a one-click diary import.

  • Start with today’s food
  • Basic barcode scanning is free
  • Keep a copy of the history you need

Write down what you want to keep

Note your current calorie and macro targets, the serving sizes you use, and the recipes you log most often. Use the targets you already follow rather than assuming two apps will calculate the same ones.

Keep access to any history you need. Connecting health apps does not guarantee that an old food diary or saved recipes will transfer.

Try one normal day

Use foods you buy often so the test reflects your actual routine.

  1. Set your targets

Open Vora’s nutrition settings and check the goals before logging your first meal.

  2. Scan a regular food

Try a packaged food you know. Compare the matched product with the label in your hand.

  3. Check the serving size

Match grams, portions, or pieces. A serving in one database may differ from a serving in another.

  4. Review the day

Check the meals and amounts you saved. Keep using the routine that makes logging easiest for you.

Why the totals can differ

Food databases can hold different versions of the same product. Cooked and dry weights can differ too. First check the product and unit, then the amount you logged.

If a scan finds nothing, use food search or manual entry. Do not pick an unrelated result just to fill the diary.

Keep the plan decision separate

Vora Free includes basic barcode scanning. MyFitnessPal lists its barcode scanner under Premium features. Check both current plans for anything else you rely on.

Installing Vora does not cancel a subscription with another app. Manage that subscription through the service where you purchased it if you decide to stop it.

Common questions

Can Vora import my entire MyFitnessPal diary?

This guide does not offer a full diary import. Start by entering your targets and logging new meals in Vora. Keep a copy of any old history you need.

Do I need to pay to scan barcodes in Vora?

No. Basic food barcode scanning is included in Vora Free.

Why are calories different for the same food?

Check the brand, product version, serving size, and whether the entry is for cooked or uncooked food. Use your package label when a database record is wrong.
