Food and nutrition
Can Vora log food from a photo?
Yes. Take a photo of your meal, or pick one from your photo library, and Vora identifies the foods and estimates their nutrition for you to check before you log them, free on every plan on iPhone and Android. You can also log food by barcode, by speaking or typing a description, or by searching the food database.
Log food from a photo
- In Vora, open food logging and tap Camera.
- Take a photo of your meal, or pick one from your photo library. On Android, tap Album to pick a photo, then tap Analyze Food.
- Review the foods and amounts Vora found.
- Tap Log Now.
Other ways to log food
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Barcode | Tap Scan barcode and point the camera at a packaged food, or type the digits. Vora looks the product up in several food databases, including Open Food Facts, USDA and FatSecret. |
| Description | Type what you ate in plain words. On iPhone, tap Describe, or type into the Search or describe a food field, then tap Analyze meal. On Android, tap Log food, then Analyze Food. |
| Voice | Tap the mic in the same field and say what you ate. Your words appear as you speak, and Vora analyzes them like typed text. |
| Search | Search the food database by name and pick a match. |
| Saved and recent | Log a saved meal or recipe from Saved, or a food from Recent. |
| TikTok recipe | Tap Saw a recipe on TikTok? in your Saved library and paste a public TikTok link. Vora reads the recipe from the caption for you to review. |
| Text message | Send Vora a meal, a food photo, a voice note or a barcode number over Vora AI Text. |
Nutrients per food
Vora tracks up to 90 nutrients per food: calories and macros, plus vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids and more. How many a food shows depends on the data available for that food.
iPhone and Android
Photo, barcode, voice, description and search logging all work on iPhone and Android. One label differs: the describe tile in the Add Food menu reads Describe on iPhone and Log food on Android.
Free or Pro
Every food logging method, including photo analysis, barcode scanning and voice, is free on every Vora plan, with no daily limit on food logging in the app.
Food you log by text message through Vora AI Text uses the daily AI message allowance.
Limits
- Photo and description results are AI estimates, so check the foods and portions before you log them.
- A barcode match depends on the product being in a food database, and a record can differ from your package. Check the serving size against the label.
- TikTok recipe import reads the post’s caption only, not the video or its audio.
- Vora does not import a full food diary from another app. Nutrition that other apps share with Apple Health or Health Connect can still reach Vora.
