The Casio CRW-H001 is one of the most original smart rings yet. It combines a tiny digital watch, health sensors, activity tracking, and vibrating phone alerts in a full-metal ring. It costs 1,990 yuan in China, runs its smart module for 4 to 6 days per charge, and comes in three fixed sizes.
The catch is just as important as the concept. Casio sells it only in China, its health features run through the third-party AIZO RING app, and neither Casio nor the app listing documents a complete export of ring data to Apple Health or Health Connect. There is also no independent validation yet for its sleep, heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, or recovery estimates. This is a compelling first-generation gadget, not a proven Oura replacement.
What Casio Actually Built
The original CRW-001 was a miniature digital watch worn on a finger. The CRW-H001 keeps that idea and adds the parts expected from a modern health wearable: optical sensors on the inner surface, Bluetooth, a rechargeable smart module, and a low-power vibration motor.
The result is closer to a tiny smartwatch than a conventional smart ring. Its digital face can show the time, date, day, a second time zone, stopwatch, and alerts without making you open a phone app. Incoming calls, messages, alarms, reminders, and selected health warnings can trigger a vibration on the finger.

The Display Is the Real Differentiator
Most smart rings deliberately disappear. They have no screen, make no noise, and send every reading to a phone. Casio takes the opposite approach. The CRW-H001 looks unmistakably like a miniature Casio watch and gives you useful information on the device itself.
That makes the ring more independent for basic timekeeping and more distracting for anyone who chose a ring to escape notifications. It is also physically substantial. The case is 19.5 mm wide and the entire device weighs 19 g, so it is better understood as a statement watch for the finger than invisible jewelry.
Health Tracking Looks Broad, but Evidence Is Thin
Casio lists heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, body temperature, sleep analysis, steps, calories, training logs, training analysis, health reports, and menstrual-cycle management. That is an ambitious feature set for a device this small.
What Casio does not publish matters. The product page does not list HRV, which is a core input for many recovery and readiness systems. It does not explain sensor sampling rates, sleep-stage methodology, recovery-score inputs, or accuracy against clinical references. Casio also states that the product is not a medical device and that its readings are for general fitness and health management only.
Until independent testing arrives, treat the CRW-H001 as a lifestyle wearable that can show trends. Do not assume its blood oxygen, temperature, sleep, or recovery outputs are interchangeable with Oura, Samsung, RingConn, or a medical device.
The App and Data-Sync Question
The CRW-H001 does not use the familiar Casio Watches app. Casio directs owners to AIZO RING, an app provided by Shenzhen eIoT Technology. Casio says the ring can connect to iOS, Android, and supported HarmonyOS versions, although message notifications are not fully supported on HarmonyOS 5 and newer.
For iPhone owners, the distinction between reading and writing HealthKit data is crucial. The AIZO RING App Store description says the app uses HealthKit to obtain steps and calorie changes. It does not say that the ring writes its heart rate, sleep, temperature, blood oxygen, or recovery data back to Apple Health. Casio's product page also does not promise Apple Health or Android Health Connect export.
That means you should not buy this ring on the assumption that its full dataset will flow into another health app. If data portability matters, wait for Casio or AIZO to publish a clear export matrix.
Battery Life Uses a Clever Split System
Casio separates the watch function from the connected health module. The LCD timekeeping section has an estimated battery life of about two years, while the rechargeable smart module lasts 4 to 6 days per charge and about 25 days in standby.
That is a smart design choice. The CRW-H001 can remain a functioning digital watch even when the health-tracking side needs power. The official listing describes USB charging, while the product images show a dedicated charging accessory and storage case.
Price, Sizes, and Availability
Casio lists the CRW-H001M-8 at 1,990 yuan. The family comes in three fixed sizes: S with a 19.3 mm inner diameter, M with a 20.1 mm diameter, and L with a 20.9 mm diameter. There are no size-adjustment spacers, so measuring before purchase matters for both comfort and sensor contact.
For now, Casio says the ring and its after-sales service are limited to China. There is no announced United States or global release. Importing one would add risk around fit, returns, app availability, warranty coverage, and replacement service.
Should You Buy It?
Buy the CRW-H001 if you live in China, love Casio's digital design language, and want a wearable that feels more like a miniature watch than a hidden sensor. The on-ring time display and finger-level haptics are genuinely different from the rest of the market.
Wait if health accuracy, sleep and recovery depth, international support, or open data matter more than the design. The CRW-H001 has the right ingredients, but it still needs independent validation and a much clearer integration story.
