Quick Verdict
Anker used IFA 2026 to do something no mainstream sleep earbud has done: put an optical heart rate sensor inside the bud. The Soundcore Sleep Earbuds 4 Pro carry an in-ear PPG sensor that samples at 100 Hz through the night and reports heart rate, changes in heart rate variability, sleep stages, sleep quality and breathing-related patterns, delivered as a morning sleep score and a body-battery style energy readout. The charging case is the other half of the idea. It has an AMOLED touchscreen, its own processor and local storage, so you can set an alarm, pick a soundscape, toggle noise cancelling and read last night's summary without unlocking a phone at 3am. Soundcore prices it at $349.99 with a November 2026 arrival, and the cheaper Sleep Earbuds 4 at $229.99 in October.
Now the catch, and there are three worth knowing before you put a deposit down. First, $349.99 buys a health sensor you can only wear in bed, which is a strange trade next to a smart ring or a band at half the price that measures the same things and keeps measuring all day. Second, the battery numbers only clear a full night in some modes: eight hours of Bluetooth streaming with noise cancelling on is less than many people spend in bed. Third, and this is the one that decides whether the data is any use to you, none of the launch material we could find says the sleep or heart data leaves the soundcore app for Apple Health or Health Connect. Soundcore is also explicit that this is not a medical device, and no independent accuracy testing of in-ear PPG against a sleep lab exists yet.
What Was Announced
Two products, and the split between them matters more than the shared name suggests.
The Sleep Earbuds 4 Pro is the sensor model. Each bud houses an optical PPG sensor, described in launch coverage as sampling at 100 Hz, and Soundcore's own page says those sensors "track your heart rate, HRV, sleep stages, and nightly behaviors throughout the night" before producing a detailed sleep report. It weighs roughly 3 grams per bud, uses a flat layered shape aimed at side sleepers, and ships with a smart case that Soundcore treats as a bedside device rather than a charger.
The Sleep Earbuds 4 is the cheaper one at $229.99, and it drops the PPG sensor and the touchscreen case entirely. It is a sleep audio product with noise reduction and snore masking, not a tracker.
Both models share Bluetooth 6.0, wireless charging, a built-in personal alarm, a Find Me function, and what Soundcore calls Adaptive Snore Masking, where the case listens for snoring and signals the buds to play adaptive soothing sounds over it. Soundcore states the audio library is free with "no subscriptions or hidden fees", and lists a 24-month warranty. That last detail is worth noting in a category where the trend has been the opposite.

Read the sound recognition row twice, because it is genuinely odd. Launch coverage reports that the cheaper Sleep Earbuds 4 includes bedroom noise monitoring and sound recognition, the feature that listens for things you would want to wake up for, and that the $349.99 Pro does not. Reporting is not fully consistent on this point, with at least one hands-on describing critical-sound detection for crying babies and fire alarms as part of the range generally. Soundcore's own page does not resolve it. If you sleep next to a child or a smoke alarm you care about, that is the first question to ask before you pre-order the expensive one.
The Battery Math Against a Real Night
This is where the spec sheet stops being marketing and starts being a buying decision, and nobody in the launch coverage ran the numbers against an actual night of sleep.

The mode most people will reach for first, streaming from a phone with noise cancelling on, is the weakest one at eight hours. Time in bed is not the same as time asleep, and if you put the buds in at 11pm and get up at 7:30am you have already exceeded it. The good news is that the fix is built in: the case carries local storage, so the soundscapes play without a phone or an internet connection, and local playback buys you an extra hour and a half with cancelling on and a comfortable 14.5 hours with it off.
So the practical setup is local audio, not streaming. That is not how these devices get demoed, and it is worth knowing before you conclude the battery is inadequate.
The open question we cannot answer from the launch material is what happens to the tracking when the audio budget runs out. A sleep tracker that stops sensing at hour eight has a hole in exactly the part of the night when REM sleep is concentrated. Nothing published states whether PPG sampling continues after playback ends or whether the two share the same power envelope. Ask that before you buy.
What In-Ear PPG Can and Cannot Tell You
The ear is a defensible place to measure a pulse. It moves less than a wrist, it is closer to the core, and it does not get the motion artefacts that make wrist HRV noisy. On paper, a 100 Hz optical sensor in a canal that stays still for eight hours should produce cleaner interbeat data than a watch does.
On paper. Here is what is actually established: nothing. Soundcore is careful to say the earbuds are not a medical device, and launch coverage notes plainly that the accuracy claims will need proper testing. There is no published validation of in-ear PPG sleep staging against polysomnography for this product, and sleep staging is the metric consumer devices get wrong most often even when the underlying heart rate is good. The device also reports "changes in HRV" rather than absolute HRV, which is the honest framing for a trend metric and a hint about the confidence Soundcore has in the absolute number.
Treat the outputs the way you would treat any new sensor: the direction of travel across weeks is probably meaningful, and a single night's stage breakdown is not something to make decisions on. BioSync, and Why the Case Is the Real Product
BioSync is the feature that justifies putting a sensor in an audio product rather than bolting sleep scores onto a headphone. Soundcore describes an engine that "syncs with your heart rate, dynamically adapting soothing sounds", and coverage of the IFA demo describes it adjusting tempo, soundscape and binaural beats roughly every five minutes based on how relaxed the sensor thinks you are. That is a closed loop: measure, adjust the audio, measure again. Whether it works is unproven, but it is a real reason for the sensor to exist in this device instead of a ring.
The case is the part that impressed hands-on reporters most. An AMOLED touchscreen with a processor and storage behind it means alarms, playback, noise cancelling and the morning summary all happen on a small bedside screen instead of on your phone. The argument is not novelty, it is that the phone is the worst object to reach for at bedtime and at 3am. A sleep device that reduces the number of reasons to pick up a phone is doing something structurally useful, and that is a rarer design instinct than it should be.
The $349.99 Question
Here is the comparison that decides this purchase. The Sleep Earbuds 4 Pro measure heart rate, HRV trends and sleep while you are in bed. A smart ring or a recovery band measures the same things while you are in bed and then keeps measuring for the other sixteen hours, usually for less money. Sleep data is only half of what makes recovery metrics useful; the daytime baseline is the other half, and an in-bed-only sensor cannot give you one.
That argument does not kill the product, but it does narrow who should buy it. The people with a genuine case are the ones for whom the audio is the point: light sleepers, people who share a bed with a snorer, people who currently sleep with earbuds in and get nothing back for it. If you are going to wear something in your ears all night anyway, getting heart rate data out of it is a straight upgrade, and the $120 premium over the non-Pro is the price of that. If you are shopping primarily for sleep metrics and would not otherwise wear earbuds to bed, this is an expensive way to get numbers a $250 ring will also give you.
One practical note on price: Soundcore's own product page currently advertises the series with a "first drop" this October and a $1 deposit to lock in $30 off at launch, without publishing final pricing on the page itself. The $349.99 and $229.99 figures and the November date for the Pro come from the IFA briefings, so treat them as firm but pre-launch.
Where Vora Fits
The honest answer here is a caution, not a pitch. Vora reads from Apple Health and Health Connect rather than talking to devices directly, which means a device is useful to us exactly to the extent that it writes to those platforms. Across every source we checked for this launch, including Soundcore's own product page, not one states that Sleep Earbuds 4 Pro heart rate, HRV or sleep data exports to Apple Health or Health Connect. That is not proof it does not; the soundcore app may well write sleep and heart data out, and plenty of Anker products do. It does mean nobody has said so, and a $349.99 sensor whose data cannot leave its own app is a worse purchase than the spec sheet implies.
So if joining your sleep data to your training and nutrition picture matters to you, make that the question you ask Soundcore support before November, not after.
