iPhone, Android and Apple Watch

Does Vora work with Apple Watch?

Yes. Vora reads your Apple Watch data through Apple Health, and the Vora Apple Watch app lets you log strength sets, record outdoor runs, walks, rides and hikes, and see your Sleep, Recovery and Strain scores. Strength sets you log in Vora count toward muscle recovery and strain, while the Recovery score comes from your overnight HRV, resting heart rate and sleep.

What you need

  • An iPhone with the Vora app. The watch app is a companion to the iPhone app.
  • watchOS 11.5 or later.
  • Apple Health permissions for Vora on your iPhone, so Vora can read your watch data.

Install the watch app

  1. In Vora on your iPhone, open Settings, then Connections, then Apple Watch to see whether Vora is on your watch.
  2. If it is not, open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps, find Vora and tap Install.
  3. Open Vora on your iPhone so your scores and workouts reach the watch.

What Vora reads from your Apple Watch

Your watch saves its data to Apple Health, and Vora reads it there with the permissions you grant, including heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, sleep, workouts, VO2 max, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, wrist temperature, steps and active energy.

What the Vora watch app does

  • Shows your Sleep, Recovery, Strain and Nutrition dials with your metric tiles below. The numbers come from the Vora iPhone app.
  • Logs strength sets with weight, reps and effort. Sets are prefilled, and Previous brings back last time’s numbers.
  • Runs a rest timer with haptics and streams live heart rate into your workout and your strain score.
  • Keeps sets you log away from your iPhone on the watch until the two reconnect.
  • Starts your planned and saved workouts through your iPhone. If the iPhone is out of reach, the start waits until it reconnects, and some workouts can only be started on the iPhone.
  • Moves a strength workout between your iPhone and watch mid-session, with the timer, sets and progress.
  • Records outdoor runs, walks, rides and hikes with GPS, even with your iPhone left at home. Indoor cardio is not recorded on the watch.
  • Controls a guided stretch that is playing on your iPhone.
  • Offers watch face complications for Recovery, Strain, Sleep, Nutrition, HRV and resting heart rate.

Strength workouts and recovery

Sets you log in Vora, on the watch or the iPhone, feed Vora’s muscle recovery and your strain score once your iPhone syncs the workout. When the watch runs the workout, it also saves it to Apple Health with heart rate and active energy.

Vora’s Recovery score is separate. It comes from your overnight HRV, resting heart rate and sleep, and workouts do not feed it directly.

A strength workout recorded only in Apple’s Workout app reaches Vora without sets. It counts toward strain, but Vora does not guess which muscles you trained, so it adds no muscle load unless you tag the muscles when you edit the workout in Vora.

Free or Pro

The Apple Watch app and the Apple Health connection are free on every Vora plan.

Limits

  • Apple Watch needs an iPhone, so the Vora watch app does not work with an Android phone.
  • Scores and planned workouts on the watch come from the Vora iPhone app. If the watch looks out of date, open Vora on your iPhone.
  • Guided stretches start on the iPhone. The watch controls a stretch that is already playing.
